City of Bridges, City of Ramen

I’ve safely arrived in Fukuoka. From the little I’ve seen of the city so far, I like it. In many ways, it reminds me of Portland, Oregon. The way the river bisects the city, that it’s a city of bridges, the pace of the place. It’s a huge difference from Phnom Penh certainly. Even the way the city breathes reminds me of Portland, and given how much I fell in love with Portland, I’m paying Fukuoka a big compliment.

It also helps that I had probably the best ramen I’ve ever eaten last night. A cute, busy place that CC and Lowie took me to. The broth was rich, the noodles good, and the best pork in a soup ever. Yes, just delicious. I’m ready to go back there again and again.

CC also arranged for me to attend a UN Habitat event today. Apparently, it’s Habitat’s 10th anniversary in Fukuoka, and there should be some interesting speakers/discussion about their work.

Just a short update right now… I hope to have more (about Battambang and Phnom Penh) later.
